What You Need to Know about PTE Scores
Want to know what’s one of the test essentials that test takers seldom include in their PTE preparation online? PTE scores—how they’re computed, how they’re presented, and what you can do with them. And that’s understandable.
It makes sense that examinees would rather focus more on honing their skills to get high grades than study up on what they can do with them. But, this doesn’t mean that you should disregard PTE results in your review. Here are some of the things you need to know about them.
1. PTE results don’t just cover four communicative skills.
Most international English exams only assess their candidate’s listening, reading, writing, and speaking abilities. PTE is different. Aside from those four, PTE also evaluates its taker’s enabling skills which include:
• Oral fluency
• Written Discourse
Enabling skills are assessed in the speaking and writing parts of the PTE online test.
2. PTE results are scored against the Global Scale of English.
The Global Scale of English (GSE) is a global English standard. It provides and detailed breakdown of language performance at different proficiency levels. How does it achieve this? By establishing an individual’s linguistic skill using a scale from 10 to 90.
3. The score report includes the taker’s test info and enabling skill scores.
Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you’ll find in your PTE Academic Test Taker Score Report.
